thermoacoustic mixture separation

The separation of gas mixtures by thermoacoustic waves is due to a complex cycle of thermal diffusion and viscous motion. This recently discovered process has been described theoretically and demonstrated in experiments which show that the method is well suited for isotope enrichment. The basic phenomena are well understood, and technology development is underway.
