submarine hydrodynamics
Submarines have been around for about 400 years. Their stealth plays an important role in a modern naval force. However, the lack of a significant civilian or industrial requirement for this mode of transportation has restricted the scope of its development and left the technology largely shrouded in the military. Compared with airplane aerodynamics, for example, submarine hydrodynamics receives little attention in the open scientific literature.
