• Spears fish from platform built in stream or on river bank or from fishing vessel, using harpoon attached to buoy by rope, and allows fish to tire.
• Hoists fish from water, using gaff.
• Kills swordfish with club, rifle, or gaff.
• May be designated according to gear used as Fisher, Eel Spear; Gaffer; Harpooner; or according to quarry sought as Fisher, Swordfish.
