optical and X-ray observations of the Crab Nebula
The Crab Nebula is the remnant of a powerful supernova explosion that blew apart a giant star and was seen by Chinese astronomers in 1054. It has been intensively studied for many years, most recently through time-lapse observations made with both the Hubble Space Telescope and the Chandra X-ray Observatory.
