nitric oxide
NO A colorless gas that, at room temperature, reacts with oxygen to form nitrogen dioxide (NO2, a reddish-brown gas). It may be used to form other compounds. It is a crucial physiological messenger molecule thought to play a role in blood pressure regulation, control of blood clotting, immune defense, digestion, the senses of sight and smell, and possibly learning and memory.
