homo floresiensis
In 2004 a team of Australian and Indonesian archeologists and paleoanthropologists announced the remarkable discovery of a new species of fossil hominid, Homo floresiensis, from the island of Flores in Indonesia. The geographical location and the anatomical specializations of the new finds were so unexpected that it has led to major debates among the scientific community and a critical rethinking about the nature of human adaptation and evolution.
