A viral disease caused by rice grassy stunt virus (RGSV). The disease is transmitted by the brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens. Grassy stunt is widely distributed in South and Southeast Asia and is characterized by pronounced stunting, proliferation of tillers, and short and narrow pale green to yellow leaves.
