glass ceiling
The glass ceiling is one of Chilhuly's favorite art forms of glass installations. He uses a large number of objects in various shapes and colors to create soft, undulating lines and delicate, flowing forms and colors. The objects come in a rich variety of cones, flasks, and roundels with spiraling ribbons of color. Usually placed on top of a large plate-glass ceiling, the glass forms are suspended in midair and make dramatic use of both natural and/or artificial lights. As visitors walk under the glass ceiling, they feel totally immersed in the colorful space without distraction.
