family tracing

This is the procedure aimed at identifying the family of the trafficked person assisted when she or he cannot contact or reach them. Such procedure should be put in place only if the trafficked person expresses the wish to return home and stay with her/his family. In the case of a child victim, the family should be found only when this is in the best interests

of the child, given the fact that sometimes it is the family, or family members, who are at the source of the trafficking. Family tracing may involve different governmental and non-governmental institutions.
