europium
A chemical element, Eu, atomic number 63, atomic weight 151.96, a member of the rare-earth group. The stable isotopes, 151Eu and 153Eu, make up the naturally occurring element. The metal is the second most volatile of the rare earths and has a considerable vapor pressure at its melting point. It is very soft, is rapidly attacked by air, and really belongs more to the calcium-strontium-barium series than to the rare-earth series.
