dot pitch

Of a monitor screen, the physical size (width) of an individual tristimulus optoelectronic element (e.g., phosphor triad, stripe triad, LCD element,) usually expressed in millimeters (e.g., "0. 28 mm dot pitch",) in the direction of scanning. Note: The width of one tristimulus optoelectronic element determines the maximum resolution of a monitor screen. 2. Of a dot-matrix printer, the maximum number of dots per inch that can be printed in the highest resolution setting.
