digital proofing
Digital proofing refers to processes that obtain hard-copy output directly from digital files for purposes of predicting the appearance or other aspects of printed matter. In practice, there are different purposes and, therefore, different requirements for digital proofs. The competing technologies in digital proofing include thermal transfer, electrophotographic, inkjet, dye sublimation, and photographic processes.
