composite variety
A variety consisting of a number of components, such as inbred lines, all types of hybrids, populations, etc. A stage in the process of creating new varieties. To have common characters, such as similar growth period, degrees of resistance to lodging or to a pathogenic agent. The stability of the composite variety is limitless. The term is used whenever the plant involved is not to be extended.
