An orbiting vehicle, which relays signals between communications stations. There are two types:

a. Active communications satellite - A satellite that receives, regenerates, and retransmits signals between stations;

b. Passive communications satellite - A satellite which reflects communications signals between stations. Also calledCOMSAT.
