Simphiwe Dana
Simphiwe Dana is a South African Afro-soul musician. Often compared with the famous Miriam Makeba, Simphiwe combines gospel, traditional, jazz, and soul influences in her music. She made her debut album, Zandisile, in 2004. In 2005, she won an award for Best Jazz Vocal Album at the South African Music Awards. Her introduction to music took place in the church, hence the gospel influences.
