Office for Information Technology Policy (OITP)
The Office for Information Technology Policy (OITP) is the branch of the American Library Association tasked with advancing the Association’s public policy activities. The Office supports information technology policies that ensure access to electronic information resources in order to uphold the public’s right to the free and open exchange of information in a free society. It serves as the voice of American librarians in information policy debates and advocates for full, informed, and equitable intellectual participation by the general public in matters of information policy. Copyright, net neutrality, 3-D printing, and other contemporary technology issues are evaluated and monitored by OITP.
