Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo, also known as “D’banj,” is a Nigerian Afropop star. His father is an artillery officer, which meant that D’banj was heavily influenced to go into the military. He attended military school but did not go into the career path that was chosen for him. Instead, after the early death of his elder brother, Femi Oyebjano, D’banj began playing the harmonica. It was one of this brothers last recovered belongings. Since then, his love for music grew. As he followed his passion, he has won many awards including Artist of the Year at the Nigerian Music Awards in 2006, Best African Act at MTV’s Europe Music Awards in 2007, and Artist of the Year at the Hip Hop World Awards in 2008.
