Agnatha
Agnathans are the most primitive and ancient of the vertebrates. As the name "Agnatha" implies, they lack jaws. Paired fins are also generally absent, and the the adult retains the notochord. The skeleton is cartilaginous. The agnathans include the lampreys and hagfishes.
