HNO3 Strong oxidant that is fire-hazardous; colorless or yellowish liquid, miscible with water; boils at 86_C; used for chemical synthesis, explosives, and fertilizer manufacture, and in metallurgy, etching, engraving, and ore flotation. Also known as aqua fortis.
