high-volume filter
Instrument for measuring total particulate matter in the atmosphere. Air is drawn into the instrument at a high flow rate of 1–2 m3 min−1 and passes through a filter bed that traps particles. The high-volume filter is the current standard recommended by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency for measurement of particulate matter in the atmosphere.
