Thai
The Thai script does not use a Latin alphabet, but is derived from the Khmer script. Over half of the words, grammar, and intonation in the Thai language are the same as in the Lao language. Thai also has tones, which make both its pronunciation and learning how to read extremely difficult for people whose mother tongue doesn't have tones. It is a tiny bit easier for people who speak Asian languages.
