Lucky Dube
Lucky Dube was a widely influential South African musician. During his childhood, his mother could not afford to take care of him and his siblings, so he was raised by his grandmother. Lucky had to work at an early age to support his family, so he began school later than his peers. It was at school that he discovered his passion for music. He came to use his reggae music to send messages regarding the anti-apartheid movement in the 1980’s. It was these messages that boosted his popularity internationally, especially across Africa.
